Blind Pigs - Self-Titled - Sunspot Marble - Vinyl LP
- $19.99
- $19.99
Originally released in 2002, the self-titled third LP by São Paulo, Brazil’s Blind Pigs, built upon the momentum the band had been building since its inception in the mid-90s with energetic live shows, touring, and their first two full-lengths, São Paulo Chaos and The Punks Are Alright. It propelled the band to new heights of notability in the worldwide streetpunk scene.
The songwriting and playing on this album are dialed in and tight. The band’s melodic, gritty streetpunk sound is driven forward at a pace designed to trigger the sweatiest of circle pits and the most vigorous of pogoing. Perfecting the sound they had been establishing from the very beginning, most of the band’s most enduringly popular songs come from this record, including “O Idiota,” “Amanhã Não Vai Mudar,” “Av. São João,” and “Sete De Setembro,” which takes a cynical look at the militaristic display of the parades for Brazil’s Dia da Independência, with lyrics that translate to “Seventh of September, such a festive date / Celebrate the farce of this beloved land.” With its scorching punk rock energy, the song has become an enduring anthem for rebels and free thinkers in Brazil and beyond who do not march to the nationalistic beat. In addition to the songs in their native Portuguese, the album contains many of the band’s best-known English language songs such as “Frontline.”
Originally released only on CD in Brazil, and out of print on vinyl for over a decade, Pirates Press Records is proud to team with Blind Pigs to bring this classic of South American punk rock back in print for the whole world to hear. The first-ever pressing on 12” vinyl, Blind Pigs will be available for pre-order via the PPR webstore on March 11, 2024, and available everywhere on March 22nd, on gorgeous 12” Sunspot Marble vinyl.
