Pirates Press Records is proud to present the new split 7” by Southern California’s A-100s and Seattle’s 6th Street Choir, pairing two bands giving exciting fresh voices to the sounds of classic ska, reggae, and rocksteady. 2026 has been an exciting year for underground music, and the talent on both sides of this disc have played no small part in contributing to that!

A-100s came right out of the gate with their debut LP Rude and Lovely instantly being hailed as one of the major releases in the ska & reggae world. Bringing together songwriters Matt Hensley and Sean Wheeler - best known for Flogging Molly and Throw Rag, respectively - and in the studio with Roger Rivas of The Aggrolites, the results have spoken for themselves. Fans all over the world have expressed their admiration for the album and have flocked to see the band, making them an in-demandliveactintheirfirstyearinthepublic eye.

“Mind Yourself” is the first A-100s song to be released since their full length, and it is proof positive that there is plenty more in these gifted songwriters’ tanks, and plenty more great music to look forward to from this incredible project. Indeed, they are just getting started.

As for 6th Street Choir, they are even fresher out of the gate, with “Toughen Up” on this very record being their vinyl debut! The band is born out of another musical duo, that of Rev Peters and David Casey. Peters has spent nearly every waking hour of this year in the studio or on the road with his band The Drowns, releasing the new album Harsh Reality, which - you guessed it - is instantly being hailed as one of the punk rock records of the year! Harsh Reality even features Hensley of A-100s providing guest according on one song!

It is a wonder the man has found time for any other pursuits, but he and Casey, who have decades of friendship and musical chemistry between them, have turned their attention to their passion for the songwriting of the greats of traditional Jamaican ska with the urgency of the England’s second wave & a touch of Northern Soul grit to craft new songs with old souls. Executed with an extraordinary group of studio collaborators, “Toughen Up” is one hell of a proof of concept for what’s coming next from 6th Street Choir...and you’d better believe it’s coming!

Either side of this record may be your introduction to some of the freshest sounds in contemporary ska & reggae, so get in on the ground floor!
