  • Hunting Lions - "Dark" Black Vinyl LP

The San Francisco Bay Area punk scene is the birthplace of legendary bands like Rancid, Dead Kennedys, Green Day, Swingin’ Utters, and many others. Over the years, it has become one of the most tight-knit music communities in the country. It’s this bond and mutual love for punk that forged Hunting Lions, a group of veteran Santa Cruz and Sonoma County musicians coming together with years of experience playing in standout acts like Swingin' Utters, Roadside Bombs, The Beltones, US Bombs, Tiger Army, and more.

In their relatively short time together, Hunting Lions have shared the stage with bands like The Toasters, Booze & Glory, and The Generators and will make their Punk Rock Bowling and Rebellion Festival debuts later this year.

Their songs carry such strong and polarizing themes that their first ten tracks, originally intended to be an LP, have been divided into 2 distinct EPs, “Light” and “Dark.” Both EPs will be highly sought-after collectibles for fans.

“We wanted the cover and album art to reflect the light and darkness that exists in every new day. That loss and renewal are equal parts of life.” says frontman Ben Coleman.

On “Dark,” the limited press 12” black vinyl features a B-side printed with a matte varnish, giving the design a two-tone effect while still being totally black. The record is packaged in a specially printed gray material foldover.

“Some songs express optimism like ‘KOTA’ while others focus on loss of culture and innocence as in ‘War,’” adds Coleman. Songs like “Dead Generation” and “The City” are poignantly crafted to criticize the socio-economic gap widening in the Bay Area. "'The City' is about the techno-gentrification of San Francisco. It's a city that once embodied working class freedom and artistic expression but has become Louis Vuitton in the fog," Coleman explains.

This is only the beginning for what Hunting Lions have in store. Get in on the ground floor with these EPs before Hunting Lions become the talk of the town throughout the punk community!
