One of the great beauties of music as an art form is its ability to transcend its origins. With time and distance from the original writing, music and lyrics can take on a life of their own completely separate from their initial inspiration, even for the artist that composed them.

With all of that said, it bears mentioning that the "apocalypse" in question in the EP Soundtrack to Your Apocalypse by the Bar Stool Preachers is indeed the COVID-19 pandemic, a global crisis that has touched everyone across the globe, and brought society itself to a halt for a time, changing everything in the process.

Re-writing songs they already had in progress about their thoughts feelings at the very beginning of the crisis, the band recorded them in the waning days before lockdown with folk punk wonder Jake Rousham (The Levellers) engineering.

Released initially as a fundraiser for organizations making a difference in the acute days of the pandemic, the pair of songs on this EP, "When This World Ends" and "State of Emergency," are a message from the band to their fans and to people across the world, and a message that truly does transcend any one event, no matter how significant: although the future may be uncertain and at times terrifying, we persevere by facing it together and moving forward with hope in our hearts.
